Jimmy Fallon to host Golden Globes 2017

Los Angeles, Aug 3 (IANS) Comedian and talk show host Jimmy Fallon has been chosen to host the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.

The 41-year-old is thrilled to have been chosen to head The 74th Annual Awards ceremony and plans on making the “Globes Gold again”, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

On Tuesday, Fallon took to his Twitter account and posted: “I’m so excited to be hosting The Golden Globes in January… Let’s make the Globes Gold again! Plan your Globes party January 8. You could be part of the show. Golden Globes.”

“We’ve found the best possible host to make the evening really memorable and that’s Jimmy Fallon. I know he will bring his unique energy and wit to the show. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is thrilled and we’re thrilled as well that he wanted to do it this year,” Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman said.

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” host has previously hosted the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards.

He takes over the reins from comedian Ricky Gervais, who hosted the ceremony this year and in 2012, 2011 and 2010.

The ceremony will be aired on NBC on January 8, 2017.
