Kanhaiya’s bail opposed due to change in circumstances: Bassi

New Delhi (PTI): Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi today made a U-turn from his earlier stand of not opposing JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s bail plea in the High Court, saying it was due to “change in circumstances”.

Bassi had earlier asserted that the police will not oppose Kanhaiya’s bail, maintaining that a young man like him should be given another chance. However, the police chief today justified his backtracking saying, “The circumstances when I had said so, those have totally changed.”

Bassi further said, Kanhaiya showed repentance on his part when he issued an appeal on the day he was produced before a court but later denied having issued any such appeal and made certain allegations which were “false”.

“We have reasonable apprehension that if he (Kanhaiya) comes out on bail, he is bound to impact the investigation and influence witnesses. He is also likely to indulge in activities that are violative of penal laws.

“That is why we have opposed grant of bail to Kanhaiya andshall oppose it further too,” Bassi added.

  1. Now we see a new brand of secularism. Chant anti national slogans at full voice and when the police gets you, be a anti hidutava. Good going Congress.

  2. Isn’t tis Bassi supposed to RETIRE in a few days time from now?

AND hasn’t a plum job in the B Joker’s Party been promised to him? Maybe our much-wired-indide-man from the BJP speak up.

After all, he speaks about an unpaved ‘pavement’ in Mangalooru while reminiscing about his Mysooru and harping about his You Yess yay! NOT a word about the blacks being killed in cold-blood. Instead, he pastes some silly link showing some silly youtube videos of his Arnaba Goswami and Billa Mahera. – Two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl…. round and round…..(Pink Floyd).

THANK ‘GAWD’ our Rampa has been calmed down a bit by watching those two fishes. 🙂

    • Mr. Praveen,

From the grapevine, I heard that B.S. Bassi is an obedient servant of the BJP. If Congress was in power, he would have been an obedient servant of Congress High Command too and this would have cockled the hearts of my friend, the chotta, motta advocate from Kumbla, who has always accused me of being a RSS/BJP sympathizer. Utter hogwash and bullshit. However, let us forget about this.

For his so-called meritorious service to BJP, he was to be made the Chief Election Officer, a plum posting in retirement, otherwise he would have been twiddlding his thumbs, scratching his chest and backside and probably playing with his grand-children. Sadly, the three member panel that was supposed to decide on his future had divergent views and the Congress member put his foot down, probably saying that he was inefficient, biased and communal and performed his job badly. So after 29.02.2016, he will lead his days in retirement, bragging to his neighbours and others that he meets at social gathering, how efficient he was, honest and loving the poor Officer he was. My foot, this man loved his career, himself and his family. That is it.

  3. Dear readers,

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to portray Rohith Vemula anti-national; but today he has become an icon for all those fighting against social and systemic oppression.
Since Rohith’s death, the BJP has been looking for a way to exorcise the Dalit scholar’s ghost. They have been looking for the perfect ‘anti-Rohith Vemula’, one who would not only divert attention from Rohith, but also delegitimize student activism across the country.

The Modi regime has finally found its prey in the JNU row – Umar Khalid too. Umar Khalid suits the BJP’s brief perfectly. He has the right name — a name around which various conspiracy theories involving Pakistan-based Jihadi organizations, the Inter-services Intelligence and Kashmiri separatists can be woven, with a few critical keywords like ‘indoctrination’, ‘infiltration’ and ‘ sleeper cells’ thrown in.

At random, people are receiving notices from the proctor’s office. Peoples’ houses are being raided, and people are getting verification teams sent to their homes. And there is no pattern, no discernible pattern to this And this is being done to terrorize the student community.
This is being done to terrorize the student community This is being done to strike terror in hearts, so that they may not rise in protest, so that another another Asutosh, another Anirban, another Aishwarya, another Shveta,is not produced amongst them, and THIS ENTIRE LEADERSHIP IS WIPED OUT. There are eight names , eight leading activists of the campus, that have been debarred. What is this pattern ?

It may be young Patidar leader reservation or student leader Kanhiya, the campus will face the brutal power of bureaucracy till the voice is oppressed. It is unfortunate that now students need to prove their patriotism from the party which sided with colonial powers.

    Jai Hind

  4. He should not be given bail. He should be given an option: to be jailed in India or Pakistan. He may get preferential treatment in Pakistan as he believes in Pakistan, a country where their national cricket team cannot play a match in Pakistan.

  5. The guy in picture was behind the anti-national pro-pakistan actions in JNU campus. Is it the reason why most of the minorities on this forum are very silent on JNU episode but busy attacking BJP and Modiji? When will they start respecting the very country that protected their rights?
