Karkala: Firemen Rescue 6 Persons Stranded in Apartment Elevator Stuck Halfway

Karkala: Six persons who were stranded in an elevator in an apartment complex here were rescued by the local fire brigade on Saturday evening.

Locals N S Deshpande, Deshpande (70), Raghavendra (53), Uma (48), Vijaya (48) and Akshata (21) They had arrived to attend a function in Nandana apartments located on Tellar Road. As the elevator they used began moving upwards, it stopped halfway.

Other residents tried to to open the door by using the special key but it refused to open. Having remained inside for about 15 minutes, those inside the elevator faced severe breathing problems and were taken ill.

The local fire brigade was called for. They used a handlebar to force-open the door and rescued the six persons.
