Karkala: It seems that it is not only the congress party that faces differences during the ZP elections. A rift among the Sangh Parivar and BJP leaders, the party seems be witnessing major setback in the Bailoor ZP constituency by denying ticket to Sumith Shetty of Karkal BJP youth wing who was the aspirant for the ticket. The BJP sources say that TP member Vikram Hegde has been given the ticket.
Sumith has been actively in the Rastriya Swayam Sevak Sangha and was leading the party in all activities. The party high command is said to be denied the ticket to Sumith. It is learnt that Sumith will be contesting as an independent candidate. The youth of Bailoor have come in support of Sumith.
Sumith Shetty’s followers have confirmed Sumith’s candidature in Facebook. Shetty’s followers allege that Sunil Kumar together with Maniraj Shetty have denied ticket to Sumith. They also say that BJP only remembers activists of Hindu outfits. While the elections commence they have restricted us to fix banners and hoardings.
Sumith said to mangalorean.com that some leaders of the BJP have brought pressure on the Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, hence ticket to Vikram Hegde has been finalised. He said, the party workers are not consulted while giving the ticket. If the BJP leaders give me a chance then I will contest the elections as a BJP candidate, if not I will contest as an independent candidate.
