Karkala: One Dead, Two Injured in Tipper-car Collision at Nitte

Karkala: A car rammed into a tipper vehicle near the Lamina cross in Nitte village on Tuesday night.

The tipper driver suddenly slowed down and took a turn. It had neither parking lights nor brakelights in working condition. The driver of the car failed to notice the sudden turn and rammed into it.

The car crashed into the rear of the tipper. Passersby and nearby residents struggled to separate the two vehicles and take out the injured.

Akhil (25) of Nadimane, Nitte, was critically injured in the head. He was rushed to Manipal hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries.

Gangadhar Poojary (27), from Nadimane and Nitesh (25), who were injured and first treated in a Karkala hospital, were later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The Karkala police have registered a case. The public have demanded that the RTO officials and the police strictly implement the compulsory installation of brakelights and parking lamps on all vehicles.
