Karkala: Silver, Bronze Worth Rs 6 Lakh Stolen from Kuntadi Rakteshwari Temple

Karkala: Thieves broke into Kuntadi Rakteshwari temple in Kalya village in the taluk late Saturday night and took away bronze and silver adornments.

When the priest arrived on the premises on Sunday morning, the theft came to light. Four precious bronze idols and silver sheet fitted to the enclosure have been taken away.

The canine squad and the police team arrived and held investigations. The oil from the lamp was found spilt all over. Hence no fingerprints and footprints could be seen.

The collection box has remained untouched. The pattern of theft was similar to the ones that recently took place in Brahmavar and Kaup. Hence it is suspected to be the handiwork of the same gang.
