Karkala: Two Idols Suspected to be Stolen Ones Found Abandoned in Nitte Bus-stop

Karkala: Two precious idols were found abandoned in the Nitte bus-stop by the side of the Padubidri-Karkala highway on the night of July 18.

They were found concealed in a bag by the rural police while on night beat. It is suspected that some thieves, after stealing them from a temple, left them behind while fleeing after spotting police or passersby. The two figurines are identical, both of a cow suckling its calf. They appear to have been made of an alloy, possibly of bronze, with an appearance of a blend of copper and brass.

Their value is not immediately known but is thought to be in excess of Rs 50,000.
