Karnataka Bandh – Schools, Colleges to remain Closed on Sept 9

Mangaluru: The chief minister of Karnataka has announced a holiday for schools and colleges on September 9 to observe bandh against the Cauvery Water issue, said Deputy commissioner Dr Jagadeesha on September 8.

On September 5, the Supreme Court directed the Karnataka state government to release 15,000 cusecs of water every day from the Cauvery river to Tamil Nadu.

There were protests from various organisations against the order of the Supreme court to release water to Tamil Nadu as the Karnataka state itself faces a severe water crisis.

On September 9, a statewide bandh will be observed against the order of the Supreme Court to release 15,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.

All the schools and colleges will remain closed.
