Kasaragod: The railway police, on receipt of a tip-off, checked the belongings of passengers travelling by the Mangaluru-Coimbatore express train last week.

The checking process, which had commenced while the train departed at Kasaragod and went on up to the time it reached Kannur,

At that stage, they achieved their target when they found Nikesh Ramesh Shah (31), a resident of Mumbai, travelling in the airconditioned compartment. He had 5,50 kgs of gold in his possession. On enquiries, he could furnish no document in support of the possession of gold.
