Kasaragod: Udaya, Prema, Ramya, Sreejit and Sangeeta, all hailing from a family from Balekkala in Kumbdaje had mysteriously gone missing since May 14 this year.
The Badiadka police had a tough job on hand to trace them. No clues of any kind were available about their whereabouts. Searches were made by them in Udupi, Ujire, Dharmasthala in Karnataka where they had earlier visited but they were not fruitful.
Hence they sought the help of the Karnataka police and provided different police stations with the photographs of the family members. This helped the Madikeri police to trace them in the house of a relative in Madenadu, a small village between Madikeri and Sampaje.
Surprisingly the five were not aware that there were media reports about their disappearance or that they were being searched for by the police after a case had been filed. On Wednesday, the Madikeri police handed them over to the custody of the Badiadka police in Kerala.
After obtaining statements from them, the police produced them in a court in Kasaragod.
