Kasaragod: UDF to Field Sitting MLAs Nellikunnu and Abdulrazak from District

Kasaragod: The elections to Kerala state assembly will be held soon.

But much before the official notification being published by the Election Commission, the Muslim League, a constituent of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF), has already announced the candidature of N A Nellikunnu and P B Abdulrazak. sitting MLAs from Kasaragod and Manjeshwar respectively, from their current constituencies.

The state committee of the Muslim League held a meeting on Thursday and released the names of its 20 candidates from different constitutencies. In all, it plans to contest from 24 constituencies.

Earlier, it was being rumoured that new faces will be introduced in both the constituencies. With the present announcement, the sitting MLAs are being given a second opportunity.

P B Abdulrazak has been popular in his constituency, which he calls a confluence of five or six languages, including Kannada and Tulu. The BJP is making serious efforts to put up a strong candidate against Abdulrazak. K Surendran, the state secretary of the party, is being tipped to be fielded by it, according to sources.
