Kasaragod: Unaccounted Rs 28 Lakh in Cash Seized from Bus Passenger from Maharashtra

Kasaragod: The district police intercepted a bus arriving from Mangaluru on its way to Kasaragod at the checkpost in Vamanjoor Manjeshwar earlier this week.

Anand, a resident of Maharashtra, was found carrying Rs 28 lakh without any supporting documents or record. He has been taken into custody by the team led by circle inspector Muralidhar.

The details will be available only after a proper investigation. Police sources suspect that it could be part of a hawala operation in which remitters make payments in foreign currency abroad, esp., in the Gulf countries.
