Kavya Suicide Case should be thoroughly Investigated with CCTV Footage – Biruver Kudla

Mangaluru: “The alleged suicide of National-level Badminton player Kavya has created suspicion. In Alva’s college, this is not the first time that a student has committed suicide. Such incidents should be stopped. The administration of Alva’s Education Foundation should clarify whether Kavya’s death is a suicide or Murder? We do not have trust in the Local inquiry, so the case should be handed over to the CBI”, said the member of Biruver Kudla Ballal Bagh, Sanketh Poojary in a press meet held at Hotel Kumar International, Bendurwell here on July 29.

Addressing the mediapersons Sanketh said, “On July 20, Kavya was found hanging to a Saree in her room. On July 19 she had spoken to her parents on phone, she was happy and did not show any signs of depression or whatsoever. She was happy and even told her mother that her physical director had asked her to come to the ground for practice at 4:30 am. But on July 20, she was found hanging in her track suit. From where did she find the saree to hang herself? The Moodbidri police say that low marks in Hindi exams led her to commit suicide. But Kavya was sportive and bold, low marks in Hindi will never lead her to commit suicide.”

Sanketh further said, “Even when Kavya was found hanging, her parents were informed at 8:00 pm, when they reached the college campus within 45 minutes, the body was lowered and sent for post-mortem. The parents have also alleged that they were not allowed to see their daughter’s body properly. Alva’s college is well equipped and has CCTV cameras installed all over the campus. Let they release the complete CCTV footage to the public. Biruver Kudla Ballal Bagh unit demands a CBI inquiry in this case”.

Biruver Kudla member Sahana Poojary said, “We are not blaming the Chairman of Alva’s Institution. We have respect towards Dr Mohan Alva because he has played a vital role in promoting the Tulunadu culture to the world. We want the administration to support an open investigation in Kavya’s suicide case. Alva’s Institution is monitored by CCTV surveillance, let the administration keep the CCTV footage forward. We request the Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation not to protect anyone.”

Sahana also said, “We will hand over a memorandum to the Police commissioner to hand over the case to the CBI.”

Biruver Kudla members Vidhya, Rakesh Poojary, Pranesh Bangera, Sharath Poojary, Vijesh and Ganesh were present.
