Kejriwal didn’t want me to contest polls: Sidhu
Chandigarh, (DHNS): Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday said he will not join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since Arvind Kejriwal did not want him to contest the upcoming Punjab polls.
Instead, he said, the Delhi Chief Minister had asked him to campaign for the party in the elections. He further said, Kejriwal had assured a ministerial berth to his wife Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, a sitting Akali Dal MLA, if the party comes to power.
Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Sidhu revealed his plans to launch a new political outfit “Awaaz-e-Punjab”, which, he said, was not a party, but a forum of like-minded people for the sake of Punjab.
Sidhu trained guns at the ruling Badal family, but kept his best punches for Kejriwal and AAP, sparing none, including the Congress. “Kejriwal wants only ‘yes men’ with him. He does not like people who point fingers at him. He even does not credit anyone for work,” he said.
