Mangaluru makes a compelling case for education, ensuring a balance and harmony between the individual, institutions, society and nature. Above all, the institutions provide a successful education strategy with an effective track record of successful knowledge dissemination. And with all these facilities and top-class education offered by Mangaluru City, this top rank holder from Kerala without any second thoughts has made the right choice by opting for the right engineering college, in the outskirts of Mangaluru-that is ‘Sahyadri Engineering and Management College’-Adyar. “I want to work in a good software firm and polish my craft hopefully after I complete my graduation at the prestigious Sahyadri College” says Keerthana, very proudly.

After coming out in flying colors in her Class-12 examination of the Directorate of Higher Secondary Board-Thalassery, Kerala- Keerthana decided to pursue her further education in ‘ Electronic and Communication’ at Sahyadri , which she says was the right decision made by her, with no regrets. Born in Thalassery on August 31st 1998, she completed her high school at St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School in her hometown. Quite active in co-curricular activities, she participated in state youth festival for singing and got A grade, and had also represented her school for recitation at district level. Her dad, R.B Rajeev works as a P.R.O for a reputed company in Dubai, while her mother, Sreejaya Rajeev, who also worked with her husband in same company in Dubai as well but recently decided to be just a housewife. Keerthana’s sister, Anagha who is a commerce graduate is also employed a reputed firm in Dubai.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean over the phone from her home in Thalassery, why she decided to pick her engineering college in Mangaluru, she said, ” Well,I think its very important to get to know places other than your hometown cause it helps in molding a person. And moreover,I heard there are less placements in Kerala and most of the good colleges are very far from my city. I learned that quality of education is not up to the mark in Kerala, so I made up my mind to do my future studies in the Education Hub-‘Mangaluru’, finding that it is a very good city with well facilities and transportation. I also learnt that Karnataka educational institutions focus on quality education and offer various platforms for innovation “

When asked about her achievement and success in her academics, she said, ” I think its very important to study regularly and consistently. You should always make sure that you have enough spare time for other activities otherwise you’ll tend to forget things easily. Regular studies and Hard work was the key to my success. I always dedicated four hours every day for studies, and never kept anything pending for the next day. Many a times, I would get up in the midnight and study until the wee hours till I fall sleepy again.”

When asked what made her to continue her further studies at Sahyadri, Keerthana said, “I came across Sahyadri college in the Internet and when I browsed deeper into the faculty and infrastructure of the college, I found it to be a very good institution. What sets this college from the rest is the way they enable the students to grow and reach their true potential. It’s very important to give students space to experiment and I think Sahyadri provides that. I think I will do good at Sahyadri, and I am confident that the faculty there will give me the best training and guidance to reach greater heights”.

And since you asked me what would be my message to the students who want to succeed in their academics, all I would like to say is that, ” I’m not a very brilliant student to be fairly honest. I wanted to score very well for my board examination, so I worked hard towards achieving it. Have that goal of scoring well and its very easy. Work hard and be regular on your studies and always make sure you enjoy life and studies equally. Try..try and you will succeed. That’s it!”. Team Mangalorean wishes Keerthana Rajeev all success in her engineering career at Sahyadri. Best of luck!

Vasanth Kedige, the media consultant at Sahyadri speaking to Team Mangalorean said, ” Our management had organized a felicitation programme in May for Keerthana and BS Ranjan for their perfect score in SSLC, but Keerthana couldn’t make it for the occasion since she had already planned a vacation to Dubai with her parents during that time. We are glad that she has now joined our college and we feel proud of it”.
