Mumbai, April 11 (IANS) Key Indian equity indices was trading flat on Monday morning following mixed global cues.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was trading 25.22 points or 0.10 percent higher during the morning session.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 14 points or 0.19 percent higher at 7,569.20 points.
The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 24,789.40 points, was trading at 24,699.06 points (at 9.19 a.m.) in the early session, higher 25.22 points or 0.10 percent from the previous day’s close at 24,673.84 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,791.36 points and a low of 24,693.87 points in the trade so far.
Chinese yuan strengthens
Beijing, April 11 (IANS) The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 84 basis points to 6.4649 against the US dollar on Monday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trading System.
In China’s spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by two percent from the central parity rate each trading day, Xinhua reported.
The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
Tokyo shares open lower
Tokyo, April 11 (IANS) Tokyo shares opened the trading on Monday lower on the yen’s advance that hurt export-related shares.
At 9.15 a.m. (local time), the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 193.37 points, or 1.22 percent, from Friday to 15,628.15, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 16.43 points, or 1.28 percent, to 1, 271.26.
Chinese shares open higher
Beijing, April 11 (IANS) Chinese stocks opened higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.74 percent, at 3,006.91 points.
The smaller Shenzhen index opened 0.96 percent higher at 10,513.87 points, Xinhua news agency reported.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.13 percent to open at 2,255.07 points.
