Kharvi Community Demands Impartial Probe into Paresh Mesta’s Death

Kundapur: The Kundapur Konkani Kharvi community members, Mahakali Temple and Vidyaranga Mithra Mandali held a silent protest demanding an impartial probe in the death of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar here on December 18.

The protesters took out a silent protest rally from Sri Mahakali Temple Kundapur which passed through Shastri Circle and culminated at the Assistant commissioner’s office. The protesters marched for about 5 km peacefully in the silent rally.

Jayananda Kharvi administrative trustee of Sri Mahakali temple Kundapur said that the Konkana Kharvi community strongly condemns the murder of Paresh Mesta. We have many unclear questions on Mesta’s forensic report. The government should reinvestigate the forensic report. Jayananda Kharvi also demanded an impartial probe in the case and compensation from the government.

Later the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy through Kundapur Thashildar G M Borker.

Dinakar Patel president Vidyaranga, Vasanthi Mohan Sarang president Kundapur town Municipality, Rajesh Kaveri vice president, BJP leaders Kishore Kumar, Shanker Ankadakatte, Kharvi Community leaders Prakash Kharvi, Ganapathi Kharvi and others were present.

The district police made tight police security for the silent protest. Udupi district Superintendent of Poice Dr Sanjeev Patil personally took the lead for the security. ASP Kumarchandra, DySP Kundapur Praveen Nayak, SI Harish, Traffic SI Subbanna and others were present. SP Dr Sanjeev Patil complimented the Kharvi community for holding the protest peacefully.
