Kinnigoli: Attempting to Take out Dead Snake, Valerian D’Souza Drowns in Well

Kinnigoli: In an attempt to bring out a dead snake found in a drinking-water well of a neighbour, a resident of Maradka Kambala near here lost his life by drowning.

As a dead snake had been found floating in the well belonging to Alfred D’Cunha, Valerian D’Souza volunteered to get down into the well to retrieve it with the help of a coir rope.

Unfortunately, the rope snapped half way and Valerian fell into water. Those who had gathered tried could not save him because of the depth of the well and non-availability of any suitable rescue aids.

A police team from Mulki and the firemen arrived and extracted his body. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
