Kinnigoli: Theft of Cash, Valuables Worth Rs 2.50 Lakh Mahammayi Temple in Moorukaveri

Kinnigoli: Thieves broke into Shri Mahammayi temple located beside the Kinnigoli-Moodbidri state highway in the early hours of Monday.

Silver adornments, gold earrings and cash in the collection box have been taken away. But the gold mangalsutra and bangles have been left untouched.

The stolen materials included a kilogramme of silver and two sovereign gold ornaments and a set of other assorted items.

This is the third case of theft in the same temple during the last four years. In the earlier instances, puja materials like bell and oil lamp had been taken away. Yet, no safeguards like CCTV system were installed.

Minister Abhayachandra visited the spot of theft and directed the police to expedite investigations and nab the culprits. He also assured of grants from his MLA funds to meet the expenses of the CCTV system.
