KRV demands Rs 10 crore compensation for DySP Ganapathi’s family

Mangaluru: The members of the district unit of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) staged a protest in front of the DC office here, on July 9.

Addressing the protesters, district president Anil Das said, “An honest police officer Ganapathi committed suicide. He had earlier given an interview to a TV channel and revealed the names of three people who had been harassing him.” Anil Das alleged that former home minister K J George, Lokayukta IGP Pranab Mohanty and ADGP of Intelligence A M Prasad are directly responsible for the suicide of DySP Ganapathi. “All the three should be arrested soon and the case should be handed over to the CBI,” he added.

Anil further said that the Crime Investigation Department (CID) is a state owned investigating agency and its investigation could not be trusted. “DySP Ganapathi was an honest officer. The people who are responsible for his death should be arrested immediately and K J George should be dropped from the cabinet. The government should ensure that police officers should not be discriminated nor harassed.”

The Vedike also demanded that Rs 10 crore be provided as compensation to Ganapathi’s family. “Till the case is under investigation, the accused in Ganapathi suicide case should not continue in their positions. They should be dropped from their posts with immediate effect,” demanded the protesters.

The Vedike members burnt posters of K J George, Pranab Mohanthy and A M Prasad.
