Kundapur: Gangolli Gram Panchayat Member Edward Cardin Dies in Road Mishap

Kundapur: Edward Cardin (60), a member of Gangolli gram panchayat in the taluk, died after his bicycle was knocked down by a fish transport lorry on the beach road in Gangolli on Tuesday.

He was riding his bicycle from home towards a laundry he ran in the port locality. The lorry which approached from the opposite direction hit his bicycle. Critically injured, he was rushed to the government hospital in Kundapur but he reportedly died on the way.

He was a Congress-sponsored member of the panchayat for about three decades. The fact that he still rode a bicycle proved his simplicity.

He is survived by a son and two daughters. Two of them are abroad. His mortal remains have been placed in the Kundapur government hospital mortuary. The Gangolli police have registered a case.
