Law appointed Bangladesh U-19 technical advisor

Dhaka, Aug 4 (IANS) Former Australian cricketer Stuart Law has returned to Bangladesh cricket as the technical advisor to the Under-19 cricket team.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed the former Bangladesh national team coach to the post for 16 weeks. He will arrive towards the end of August and work with the youth team for the U-19 World Cup that will be held in Bangladesh in January and February in 2016, reports

Law was handed the responsibility of the national team in June 2011. He ended his short tenure as the Bangladesh coach after 10 months. Bangladesh had reached the Asia Cup final for the first time in 2012 under Law.

He became the high performance coach of Australia’s Centre of Excellence after leaving Bangladesh in April 2012. He led the Australian U-19 team to the World Cup final later that year.

In 2013, Law was made Australia’s batting coach before he joined two clubs of the country — Queensland Bulls and Brisbane Heat. He resigned from the posts in January.

BCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury thinks Law’s understanding of youth team management and first hand knowledge of the conditions will significantly help in the preparations.

“He had a remarkable playing career at the top level and brings vast experience of coaching established as well as emerging cricketers. We are very happy to get him on board ahead of this massive competition for our boys,” said Chowdhury.
