Madikeri: Three persons accused in the killing of Shahul Hameed of Guhya village near Siddapur during Tipu Jayanti-related disturbances here recently have been arrested by the police.
District’s superintendent of police Vartika Katiyar had set up a special team to nab them. Shahul was on his way back to his native village after the Tipu Jayanti function, travelling in an open lorry. He was shot at on the outskirts. He was taken to a hospital in Mysuru where he subsequently died.
The arrested are P U Kaverappa aka Kavan (31), hailing from Boikeri and running a mobile service shop in Madikeri, coffee grower S H Bhishma (36) of Dechur near here and K R Ramesh (45), a car driver from Sudarshan layout here.
On Wednesday, they were produced in a court here which remanded them to judicial custody up to December 30.
