Madikeri: Rogue Elephant Attacks and Kills Woman in Tata Estate in Pollibetta

Madikeri: N Rani (55), a worker in a coffee estate, was attacked by a wild elephant separated from the herd early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred in the Tata Coffee estate in Hosalli in Virajpet taluk in the southern part of the district. If a wild elephant is separated from the herd, it tends to be aggressive, violent, vicious and dangerous, because of a feeling of being insecure and being threatened. Hence an elephant is such a state is called a rogue.

As Rani and two other workers were engaged in their routine work, the elephant suddenly emerged and attacked them. While the other two managed to escape, she could not save herself.
