Madikeri: Young Woman Grievously Injured in Wild Elephant Onslaught in Balele

Madikeri: Sumati (20), of Rajapura near Balele in southern Kodagu, was severely injured after a wild elephant appeared out of nowhere and attacked her on early Tuesday morning.

She had come out of the house to answer the call of nature. The elephant took her by surprise and attacked her. She sustained deep injuries in the waist.

Other members of the house shouted and scared the animal away. After being given first aid in a hospital in Gonikopal, she was taking to Mysuru for advanced treatment.
