Mangaluru: “Youth of India must turn from job-seekers to job-creators” – with this morale boosting words of our Honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the MBA department of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management initiated ‘Student Enterprise as a Pedagogy of Learning Management’. Training was imparted on multiple domains of Entrepreneurial Management beginning with a session on awareness of the concept, Developing Entrepreneurial personality, Business Idea generation, Business idea screening/selecting business idea, Business plan preparation, Identifying source of finance, Enterprise launching formalities (Partnership/company). Students listened to the experiences of the expert business-leaders which stimulated them to do a Self Evaluation of “What they are” & “What they want to become”. This resulted in the emergence of several Student Entrepreneurs making their dreams a reality by understanding the practical steps they needed to take to become their own bosses.
Whattabiz – A multi-faceted service oriented enterprise
Whattabiz is a firm registered under its two co-founders, Karthik Ramakrishnan and Aman Agarwal, present final year students of Sahyadri college of Engineering & Management. Mr. Karthik heads the Marketing and Outreach team while Mr. Aman handles the technical and development team. Whattabiz is a firm dedicated to bringing establishments online. The firm undertakes Mobile App Development, Website and WebApp development and Desktop App development. The team has Android developers, Back-End specialists, iOS Developers and Web Design specialists.
The specializations and client base are as follows: Client Base for Mobile App Development: Mangaluru Smart City Survey App, Cotteczo, Fun2sh, PocketKart. The firm is also the official partners of iDSi Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. Along with them, Whattabiz is involved in smart city projects around Mangaluru, Shivamogga and Bangalore. Client Base for Website Development & WebApps: Russell Photography, Frickin’Frostin, Team Hawks, Shri Shyam Technica and a few more.
Whattabiz Training & Internship also provides training for students all over Mangalore in Web Dev, Android and Design. Selected students are also given internships in their upcoming Smart City Projects. Their first product is “TechShaadi”, a mobile application to integrate all aspects of the Grand Indian Wedding. They have already tied up with event managers from various cities, including the notable Red Events India Pvt. Ltd. and Memorabilia Events, Chennai.
Samaroham Creations
Sahyadri MBA initiated a Training & Development Programme on Student Enterprise during the 1st semester of MBA which stimulated students to launch an enterprise. This has eventually led to MBA students to turn out to be entrepreneurs during the course of their academics. One of them is “SAMAROHAM CREATIONS”, an Event Management Company headed by Mr. Satyajeeth Prabhu, partnered with Mr. Sanjay P. from Sahyadri Engineering, Mr. Kaushal and Mr. Akash Rai from Sahyadri MBA. Mr. Satyajeeth is a BE graduate started his career as a professional singer with Hamsadhwani Melodies, Mangalore in 2011. He has a great passion for folk arts like Yakshagana, Bhootha Kola, Skits and Dramas. He wanted to have his own Start Up on Event Management. Sahyadri gave him a forum to make his ideas and dream into reality which has successfully completed projects on managing events of high profile.

HostZyro, Certified Web Solution Provider; a startup venture by Mr. Naresh Bhat, student of Semester VI, Civil Engineering, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. HostZyro the student start-up, is a design, development and web hosting company. HostZyro is a certified web solution provider and have been accredited for domain registration. They help people easily start, confidently grow and successfully run their own ventures online. They help in branding, project solution and marketing.

Axndx Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
For the first time in the history of Sahyadri, students have created a market-ready product named Xenon SmartPlug; an app enabled smart home automation device. Prithviraj Shetty and Rohan Shetty from computer science, Fenil Mehta from mechanical engineering and Lenson Saldanha from information science engineering of Sahyadri College have been working on this product for over a year now and have overcome several difficulties such as timely labour and mass manufacturing the product.
Xenon SmartPlug is marketed through their very own start-up Axndx Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The Xenon SmartPlug is a Bluetooth powered smart device used to wirelessly control electronic appliances. The Xenon SmartPlug has automated switching of devices after they have finished their task through the use of scheduled switching, hence even if the user forgets or isn’t present to manually switch off the device, it is done so by the SmartPlug. It even has an additional feature for controlling smartphone charging where the user can set the levels where the plug can start and stop charging the phone connected to the plug.
OLS – Online Laundry Service
OLS (Online Laundry Service) headed by Harsharaj Rai partnered with Praveen Kumar, Swathi S. L. and Ankith from 1st year Sahyadri MBA Batch 2015-17 is a Student Enterprise that has added another feather on Sahyari’s Hat. Mr. Harsharaj has a work experience of 1.5 years as a Finance Executive in Nandi Toyota, Bangalore.
In the idea generation stage of Student Enterprise, his team did a thorough market research and came to a conclusion of launching a Luxurious Men’s Salon in the surrounding area of Sahyadri. However, considering the huge investment, the team then came up with an excellent idea of Online Laundry Services which is now located in Adyar. This team has 2 employees recruited already and have completed 3 months of operations. Currently they are catering to the demands of hostel inmates, students residing at PGs and local residents of Adyar.
IUSOLVE – Branding Businesses Worldwide
The company has been established by a team of seven Sahyadri students and led by Bishwas Mishra, CEO. Iusolve enables local businesses to be digitally active. They have been building websites, apps and software to showcase the products and talents of local businesses online and would like to go global soon.
The Mission of the company for the year 2016 is to bring 500 offline businesses online, to help at least 10 entrepreneurs set up independent companies and to build high quality Websites, Applications & Software’s.
