Kolkata, July 11 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for invitations to their respective ‘Iftar’ parties in the national capital but expressed her inability to attend.
She however said her colleagues will attend on her party’s behalf.
“Thank you Sonia Gandhiji for your invitation to Iftar on Monday. My good wishes. As I am in Kol, Derek O’Brien (Trinamool Congress MP) will be in Del on our behalf,” Banerjee tweeted.
Banerjee also thanked her Delhi counterpart for his invitation and promised to meet the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader next time.
“Thanks @arvindkejriwal for Iftar invitation on Sun. Good wishes. As I am in Kol, my colleagues Derek & Sukhendu (MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy) will be there. We will meet next time in Delhi,” she said.
Kejriwal responded positively on social media.
“@MamataOfficial Thank u Mamta Di. I wish u cud come. We will miss u. @MamataOfficial Sure. I look forward,” he tweeted.
