Man from Somwarpet Booked for Religious Slur on Facebook

Madikeri: Kareem Baig, a resident of Janata Colony in Somwarpet in the northern part of the district, has been taken into custody by the police there on charges of hurting another community’s religious sentiments.

He is alleged to have posted, under the handle ‘Imran Raza’, derogatory posts against another faith, its leaders and organizations and circulated them.

Many citizens and organizations had complained against these posts.

Somwarpet station house officer Nandish Kumar tracked him down from his wife’s house in Tannirhalla earlier this week. A case has been booked and being investigated.
