Man in Suicide Pact Also Dies, Sons Orphaned
Karkala: Govinda Nayak (40) who was in a critical condition in a hospital here died on Saturday morning. He, his wife Gautami (34) and two children Sudarshan and Kartik had attempted suicide on the night of June 16 by consuming poison together.
Severe financial crunch had led them to take the drastic step. The children may not have been aware of the lacing of the food with poison, say the neighbours.
Gautami had earlier died on the way to the hospital. Now the two children who have survived have been rendered orphans.
Govinda worked as a shop assistant, while Gautami, because of health issues, could not work for long.
