Mandya: Traffic Blocked on Waterlogged Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway for Half a Day

Mandya: Torrential rains hit the district late Wednesday night. Water bodies were full.

As a result river Shimsha overflowed. With no scope for water to flow into drains and canals, the arterial Mysuru-Bengaluru highway was waterlogged at the Kolli circle.

Old-timers said that it was after about 15 years that the river had overflowed. Huge crowds gathered to view the rare occasion. The police had to resort to mild caning for disperse the crowds.

Road traffic was blocked from the early morning hours, Water level subsided only by afternoon as rains also took a break.
