Mangaloreans in New Jersey Welcome Summer 2016 at a private picnic
USA: Several Mangaloreans got together at a private picnic on a pleasant and bright day on June 12, 2016 at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in New Jersey.
One couldn’t have asked for more scenic, picturesque venue of historical importance in America with the weather Gods smiling as hundreds of like-minded close-knit Mangaloreans got together to enjoy a fun filled private summer picnic 2016. The venue – Monmouth Battlefield State Park – preserves a rural, eighteenth-century landscape of orchards, fields, woods and wetlands encompassing miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding and picnic areas. It was a perfect venue for a private picnic. These hard working Mangaloreans’ family and friends have contributed immensely to the Mangalorean culture in America over the years as the first generation immigrants settled in New Jersey balancing their respective jobs and businesses but still devoting their valuable time in contributing to the American society and Mangalorean culture.
The day just passed by in the blink of an eye with some good foot tapping Konkani and English music by the dynamic duo, DJ Gladson Cardoza and DJ Ernest D’Souza, combined with some delicious mouth watering gastronomic delicacies of appetizers, lunch and desserts freshly made by all families with love and affection. Michelle Fernandes and Vanitha Furtado organised some belly tickling, games enjoyed by everyone like dodge ball, three-legged race, cricket and balloon launch. The very creative and talented host Smitha D’Mello was instrumental in securing this historical venue and getting the picnic logistics in place for the kids and adults to have one memorable picnic.
A day to remember when all the MAGIC happened in one day. Pictures are courtesy from the lens of Don Lewis, Kennedy Dos and Ron D’Souza.
