Mangaluru: 10 Fishermen Stranded on Board at Sea Rescued by Coast Guard

Mangaluru: A crew of ten fishermen on board a mechanized boat faced technical snags and were stranded at distance of ten nautical miles from the shore here earlier this week. Besides, because of heavy winds and high waves, there was a danger of its capsizing.

On receiving a distress call from the said boat, bearing registration no. IND KA 01 MM 585, the Coast Guard personnel from Panambur rushed there on board CGS Kasturba Gandhi ship and rescued all of them. The boat was towed safely to the New Mangaluru Port.

A communication from the Coast Guard says that under the Mangaluru three high-speed patrol ships and two Hovercrafts operate around the shore and a Dornier aircraft keeps a watch on deep-sea, the territorial waters and sea borders.
