Mangaluru: 21-year-old Peeping Tom Gets a Year’s Jail Term, Ordered to Pay Fine

Mangaluru: Nisar (21) from Uppala in Kasaragod district had come to visit his uncle at Pandit House locality in Someshwar village in February 2013.

During his stay, he had allegedly peeped into a bathroom in the neighbourhood and watched a 26-year-old woman while in shower. Coincidentally, the mobile in his pocket rang and the woman spotted the young man’s face in the window. He was also found videographing the scene on his mobile.

When the woman screamed, he had fled the scene. The husband of the woman was abroad. When he arrived, they filed a complaint in the Ullal police station. A charge-sheet was filed in a city court.

After examining the evidence of nine witnesses and hearing the arguments from assistant public prosecutor Mohan Kumar, magistrate Undi Manjula Shivappa delivered the judgement on Saturday.

Nisar has been sentenced to a year’s term in jail and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
