Mangaluru: ABTO Office to be inaugurated on January 3

Mangaluru: Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota (ABTO) held a press meet at the Press Club, Urwa here on January 2.

Speaking to the mediapersons, President of ABTO, Dharampal U Devadiga said, “Tulu Okkoota and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy had jointly organised the celebrations of the existence of ABTO for 25 years in the year 2014.

We managed to save some money from this celebrations and have now purchased an office for ABTO at Mugroodi Enclave in Gandhinagar Kavoor on January 3.

The ABTO office will be inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada District minister in-charge B Ramanth Rai.”
Dharampal further said that the President of Tulu Sahitya Academy, Janaki M Bhramavar will preside over the function; Health minister UT Khader will unveil the Portrait of the Founding President of Tulu Okkoota, SR Hegde.

MP Naleen Kumar Kateel will release the ‘Nenapu Sanchike’ and MLA Shakuntala Shetty will release a collection of poems on this occasion. “Yakshagana artiste Peruvai Narayana Shetty will also be felicitated on this occassion,” he added.

MLA Mohiuddin Bava will be the Chief Guest, MLA JR Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, former Mayor Mahabala Marla and other dignitaries will also be present.

Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota was inaugurated in 1989 by Late SR Hegde to protect the culture and traditions of Tulu speaking people and to build a co-relation between the various Tulu organizations within the nation.

Treasurer, B Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Honourary President B Damodar Nisarga and others were also present.
