Mangaluru: Active Always, Everywhere! Fr FX Gomes joins in the ‘Swachh Bharat Swachh Rail Campaign’

Mangaluru: In view of the Rail Yatri/Upbhokta Pakhwada that Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd has been observing since May 26 till June 9, 2015 and as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Swachh Rail Campaign’ when a cleanliness drive was organized at the Mulky Railway Station, during the weekend-the KRCL got a surprise visit from Fr Francis Xavier Gomes, who along with few students of local school showed up to help in the campaign.

Father Gomes, who was the administrator of Milagres Education Institutions and also the principal of Milagres College-Mangaluru recently got transferred as Parish Priest of Karnad Church, Mulky -having come to know about this Swachh Bharath Abhiyan taking place at Mulky Railway Station, he along with children of Dakshina Kannada J.P.North Higher Primary School, Sadashivanagar, Mulky joined in this campaign. Even the local Autorickshaw and Taxi drivers other volunteers participated in this Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Addressing the gathering at the railway station, Fr Gomes said that he will come to Mulky station every Sunday along with his parish youth. He said that he will make Mulky station their ‘second’ home, and also ensured that the station and its premises are kept clean. Rev Fr Gomes was appreciative of KRCL efforts in undertaking this campaign. “After seeing the efforts put in by Konkan Railway and the school children, I am happy that I too got an opportunity to do my bit,” he said. Incidentally, this year also marks the silver jubilee of Konkan Railway. Starting Monday, Konkan will also organize Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Barkur, Nandikoor railway stations in Udupi district, and at Ankola railway station in Uttara Kannada.
