Mangaluru: One more individual has been arrested by the police in the Bantwal Harish murder case at the Puttur bus stand here, on November 30.
The arrested has been identified as Mithun Poojary (27), a resident of Goltamajal.
Mithun has been involved in many crimes and cases have been registered against him in various police stations. He has a record of 1 murder, 3 attempt to murder and 8 other cases against him in the Bantwal Town Police Station, and 1 case in the Vittal Police Station.
Police have seized a Omni car from Mithun, which is said to have been used during the murder of Harish.
On November 12, when Harish was on his way home along with Samiulla, five persons came in a car and attacked the two thinking that they belonged to another faith. Harish died on the way to the hospital and Samiulla was admitted to the A J Hospital. The police were able to arrest two of the involved individuals, Bhuvith Shetty and Achut, at Mani on November 19. Two more involved in the crime are still at large.
In another assault case, which was registered in Sullia on April 14, 2010, two persons have been arrested at the international airport, said SP Dr Sharanappa. On April 14, 2010, Shafi (32) was assaulted by a group at Ajjavar Sullia with deadly weapons and was threatened with life. In this connection, a case was registered against Mustafa, Mukri, P M Sheriff, Muneer, Hussainar, Abdul Rahiman, Haneef Mukri, Kalandar Shafi, Hakim, Alil, Abdul Ejaz and others under IPC 143, 147, 148, 323, 324, 506 and 149.
After the investigation, the CJ and JMFC court had ordered all the 11 accused to appear before the court. But P M Sheriff and Muneer did not appear before the court. When the investigation officer collected information about the two, it was learnt that both were hiding in the gulf countries. On 7 May 2014, a look out circular was issued against them.
On October 5, P M Sheriff was arrested at the Kochin International Airport and on November 30, Muneer was arrested at Calicut airport.
