Mangaluru: The police have stumbled upon vital clues regarding the background of the attempt of the life of Lancy D’Souza of Santosh Nagar in Kuttar on the outskirts on Sep 10.
A car with a group of men on board had knocked his scooter down. Then they had got down and made an almost-fatal assault with sharp weapons. The incident had occurred near Chembugudde.
When the driver of the car, who could not be identified, tried to move in reverse mode to prepare it for their escape, it was found to have got entangled with the scooter. Hence the culprits could not complete their mission. They are said to have escaped into the greenery by the side of the road and might have escaped in another car.
The police have clear clues that it was an act of Rakshit of Thokkottu and his gang. They are on the lookout for them.
Lancy had been jailed in connection with a murder case and had come out on bail about three months ago. Informed sources said that he was remorseful about his past crimes and wanted to make a new beginning and lead a decent life. He is said to have visited a prayer centre in Potta in Kerala a few times recently.
He had begun to appear and move around in the open during the recent past. But the revengeful gang came after him. However, his life has been saved and he is said to be recovering in a hospital in Deralakatte.
