Mangaluru: Attempt to Kill Builder, Three arrested by CCB police

Mangaluru: Three persons have been arrested by the CCB police in connection with the attempt to kill a builder here on September 30.

The arrested have been identified as Siddique alias Abubakker (28), a resident of Faizal Nagar, Ummer Farooq alias Everest Farooq (30), a resident of Halekote Ullal and Altaf alias Bottu Altaf (28) from Dharma Nagar Ullal.

According to police, on September 21, a group of 5 men were following a city based builder Prakash Pinto, when he was on his way to the office. While he was walking towards his office, the persons who were following him got down from the car with weapons. When they were attempting to kill Prakash, people gathered at the spot, seeing the people gathering, they fled from the spot by a Chevrolet Beat car.

Later Prakash Pinto filed a case in the Mangaluru East police station. Based on the complaint, the CCB police collected all the information and arrested Raju alias Japan Manga in Chilimbi on the same day, they also seized the car and 2 machetes from his possession. The police were later looking out for the other accused.

On getting reliable information the CCB police on September 30, arrested Siddique, Farooq and Altaf and handed them over to the Kadri police for further investigation.

It is learnt that all the three are accused in a number of cases in various police stations.

The operation was carried out under the able guidance of Police commissioner S Murugan, DCP law and order K M Shantharaju and DCP crime Dr Sanjeev M Patil, the CCB police inspector Valentine D’Souza and PSI Shyam Sundar arrested the accused.
