Mangaluru: Bishop Aloysius, Minister Khader Visit Our Lady of Mercy Church at Fajir

Mangaluru: Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of the diocese of Mangaluru on Friday visited Our Lady of Mercy church in Fajir (Phajiru) located off the Mangaluru University in Konaje.

Thieves had recently targeted the church and stolen the tabernacle from the altar. It was found abandoned in an old house within a few hours after the public and the police conducted a thorough search all over. After offering prayers, the tabernacle was reinstalled with reverence.

Minister of health and family welfare U T Khader also visited the church and had a look around. Speaking to mediapersons, he said that such acts could be prevented by if the society provides youngsters with proper guidance and orientation so that they would not go wayward.

Parish priest Fr Valerian Pinto welcomed the visitors on both the occasions and apprised them of the theft and recovery of the stolen items.
