Mangaluru: Bodies of Four Drowning Victims from Hassan Found

Mangaluru: Six youngsters, Muhammed Haneef (20), Muhammed Shihab (19), Imran Pasha (19) and Syed Khaleel and two others, all from Hassan, had arrived in bikes in Ullal to visit the Syed Madani dargah on Sunday.

They were all friends residing in II cross of Hunasikere road in Mirza Mohalla in Hassan. Before visiting the dargah, they went to the Someshwar beach to play in water.

None of them knew swimming. As huge waves dragged them, they tried to save each other and four of them drowned. The other two, Sahil (18) and Sadiq Pasha (20) survived.

The local legislator and minister U T Khader arrived at the spot on hearing the news. A joint search operation by the police, fire service, lifeguards and some local divers was begun.

The bodies of Khaleel and Imran were found floating in the sea around Sunday midnight. Those of Haneef and Shihab were found were also found at the same spot on Monday morning.

The Ullal police have registered a case.
