Mangaluru: Cattle-lifter ‘Military’ Shareef, Wanted in Old Cases, Finally in Police Trap

Mangaluru: Muhammed Shareef (36), a resident of Kasaba Bengare, who had been wanted in several cattle-lifting cases, was nabbed by the city crime bureau police on Sunday. He is commonly known as ‘Military’ Shareef but not many know the reason.

He was involved in many cases of cattle-lifting registered in different police stations in Udupi, DK and Chikkamagaluru districts. After obtaining bail, he had been evading appearance in courts.

Further investigations revealed that he also faced charges of dowry-related harassment in a case filed at the Pandeshwar women’s police station. Besides, he has cases under different charges, including one concerning a bounced cheque, in Mangaluru north, Karkala town, Mangaluru rural, Beltangady and Bantwal police stations.
