Mangaluru: Chain Snatcher Absconding from 2 years arrested by CCB Police

Mangaluru: The CCB police have arrested a man who was absconding from the past 2 years, in connection with chain snatching cases, from Panambur here, on September 29.

The arrested has been identified as Tousif Sayyed (30), a resident of Jeppu Mangaluru.

According to the police, Tousif was wanted in various chain snatching cases from the past two years. In 2013, while Uma S Mendon was walking on Mulihithlu road, Tousif came on a bike and snatched the gold chain from her neck. He also snatched a chain of one Supreetha who was walking on 6th cross road Attavar. He had even snatched chains from women in Manjeshwar, Ullal and Sullia and 5 cases were registered against him in various police stations.

On September 29, while the CCB police were on patrol, they found Tousif roaming around in Panambur and took him into custody. His brother Sayed Sahil has already been arrested by the police and gold chains were recovered from his possession. Tousif was absconding from the past 2 years.

Tousif has been handed over to the Mangaluru South Police station for further investigation.
