Mangaluru: Charles C Blake, Consular officer-American Consulate General Addresses Sahyadri Students

Mangaluru: Charles C. Blake, Consular Officer, Consular Information Unit at the American Consulate General with Ms. Vidhya Bridget Nanthakumar, Visa Assistant in the Consular Information Unit at the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, addressed the Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, third and fourth year students on Higher Educational Opportunities in the United States as part of their outreach programme. Through a presentation he spoke about the advantages of studying in the USA such as academic excellence, diverse safe environment, hands-on training, extensive support services for international students, funding opportunities and also about a wide variety of programmes in universities to master new skills, to unlock one’s talent, and to become a leader who can change the world.

He explained the reasons why American schools are different; it encourages creative and critical thinking and helps to chart one’s own educational experience and thereby their career. He urged the students to plan early to apply to the universities in the US. There was an interaction session with both; Mr. Blake and Ms. Nanthakumar which benefited the students who plan to go in for higher studies to United States.
