Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary held a press meet at the District Congress office here on November 14.
Addressing the mediapersons Poojary said that Diwali is the festival of lights, but in DK it is opposite, Diwali has turned into darkness because some of the anti social elements who are active in the district the DK has been shut down. There are communal fights in the district and the people are afraid to go out from their house. On November 13, the Bajrang Dal called for a bundh and forced the bundh on people who were not ready to be part it. The bundh was forced on people, it was not a successful one.
The Supreme court had ordered to impose penalty on those who call for bundh. But the Chief minister nor the law minister of the state are taking any action against those who call for bundh. Why Siddaramaiah nor Jayachandra are not taking strict action against those who encourage bundh. He also said that the CM should take action against those deliver inciting speeches and trying to create communal violence in the society.
He also said that the BJP was against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti which led to communal fights in the state. Poojary advised the BJP, instead of protesting against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, wait for the next elections, win against the congress, come to power and ban celebrating Tipu Jayanti.
Mangaluru is an educational hub and thousands of students come here from other states and districts to pursue their education, if there are communal fights in Mangaluru, parents will be hesitant to send their children to Mangaluru for studies which will destroy our educational institutions. Even businessmen will not show any interest to invest in Mangaluru if the situation continues in the same manner. Modi wants development of the country whereas the Sangh Parivar is trying to defame Modi by encouraging and creating communal fights.
When we were small we used to study about Tipu Sultan but now the Sangh Parivar is trying to change history. BJP and Sangh Parivar are trying to change the history of our country.
Recalling the killing of a innocent youth Harish in Bantwal, Poojary said that Harish did not belong to any organization. He belonged to a poor family, his father is suffering from cancer and his mother also is suffering from asthma. He was the only bread winner for the family.
The district minister in-charge in order to maintain peace and harmony in the district should see that no hatred or inciting speeches are allowed, anyone found delivering inciting speeches he/she should be punished severely without mercy.
