Mangaluru: Janardhan Poojary held a press meet at the District Congress Office here, on February 12.

Addressing to the mediapersons, Poojary said, “No words are enough to describe the spirit of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. He was an outstanding soldier. It is a great loss to the country and I console the role of Hanumanthappa. With this our CM Siddaramaiah gave a good gesture by sympathizing with Hanumanthappa’s family. He even announced a relief of Rs 25 lakh, two acres of wet land or four acres of dry land and a job to one dependent of the family. I believe he did good job on his part, of being the CM of the state.”

He further said, “Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has been spotted wearing Rolex watches. On being quizzed Siddaramaiah stated that ‘it was a gift’. I do not have anything against him wearing such expensive watch. But the CM claims he is a socialist. If he was a socialist, why would he wear such watches? According to me a socialist or a politician should lead a simple life and not lavish one by wearing expensive watches. Siddaramaiah was always supported by the people of the state. With his gesture for Hanumanthappa’s family Siddaramaiah gave an impressive image to the state. But the wrist watch, spoilt it all. This would spoil his image completely. This controversy would be a lay back to congress party too.”

“I want him to give a statement by today evening that he made a mistake by wearing this wrist watch,” he added.

When asked if he had tried to find out the reality behind the wrist watch, Poojary said, “I don’t know the details about the watch nor I am an investigating officer. According to me any socialist must not wear such watches.”

Former Mayor Mahabala Marla and other congress leaders were also present.
