Kasaragod: The Hosangadi checkpost has witnessed over a dozen road mishaps in the past year or so, also claiming a few lives.
Yet another young life was lost when a fish-laden lorry collided head-on with a scooter around 7 pm on Wednesday, Mar 16.
For Shaaban (21), resident of Irshad Nagar of Udyavar in Manjeshwar and a student of Srinivas College in Mangaluru, it was a fateful decision to park his bike in Udyavar and pillion-ride with a friend.
He sat behind his friend who rode an Activa scooter. As they were approaching Uppala, the two-wheeler was hit headon by the lorry. Shaaban is said to have died on the spot.
