Mangaluru: Mohammed Irshad, the front office manager of Hotel Gateway on Port Road here has filed a complaint against a client, Kenneth Mario Fernandes, regarding non-payment of bills to the tune of Rs 4.77 lakh.
Fernandes had booked a room in advance by phoning Irshad and checked in on May 23. Since he was a regular, no advance was taken from him. As scheduled, he was to vacate the room on May 28, but he sought for extension of a week.
When the staff insisted on payment of an advance, he promised to pay on June 1 and made a payment of Rs 1 lakh. For the later stay, he gave a cheque for Rs 3.40 lakh which was returned unpaid. On July 17, he told them that he was going to bring money and did not return thereafter. The total outstanding bill in his name stands at Rs 4.77 lakh.
