Mangaluru: Complaint over Religion-based Soliciting of Votes in Panchayat Polls

Mangaluru: Syed Meera Saheb, who had contested as a JD(S) candidate from the Kadaba seat of zilla panchayat, has complained to the election authorities over violations of election laws.

He has alleged that A C Jayaraj, who is the president of Malayali Christian Association, in his capacity, had appealed through the media with paid advertisements, requestin the Malayali Christian community to vote for Congress.

Saheb has pointed out that seeking of votes in any election in the name of any religion amounts to violation of the model code of conduct. Hence he has demanded that legal action be taken against Jayaraj.

In a separate complaint, Meera Saheb has also complained that some persons had circulated false and misleading posts about him which had affected his prospected. He has asked for action against them also.
