When asked about his stand on Yettinahole river diversion project, Minister Khader said, “I will inform the Major Irrigation minister to attend the discussion on this project on September 19 in Mangaluru. Let all the ministers, MLAs and people’s representatives take part in the discussion and clear the doubts of the people of the district.” He added, “We all are Indians and when someone is in need, it is our duty to help them.”
He also said that when Sadananda Gowda was the Chief minister of the state, he initiated the project and 80% of the cabinet members supported it. “Whatever DVS has sanctioned in the assembly, we cannot stop it now. When DVS initiated the project, why did the MP not oppose it? The project was sanctioned without any detailed project report. How one can call a tender without any DPR? Now the MP says Congress is in deep slumber; where was he when his own party leader initiated Yettinahole project?” he questioned. He stressed that on September 19, all the ministers and people’s representatives will have discussion on the Yettinahole project. “We will also inform the major irrigation minister to attend the discussion without fail and clear the doubts about the project,” he reiterated.
