Mangaluru: Customs Officers at MIA Seize Gulf Currency worth over Rs 6 Lakh

Mangaluru: The Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport seized Foreign Currency value of 9000 Saudi Arabian Riyals, 23000 Qatar Riyals, 350 Omani Riyal, in various denominations, all equivalent to Rs 6,13,068/- (Rupees Six Lakhs thirteen Thousand And Sixty-eight only), from a passenger Mohammed Ali hailing from 19/151, N M House, Nellikunnu, Post, Kasaragod, Kerala during his departure from Mangaluru International Airport in the evening of 6 July 2015 by Jet Airways flight No. 9W532 to Dubai.

The said passenger attempted to smuggle the said Foreign Currency out of India without valid money exchange documents and by concealment in his checked-in baggage.

Further investigation is under progress.
